The Town of Longboat Key’s Greer Island Spit Management Project is underway. As a result, portions of the beach will be closed to the public during the construction period. The tentative schedule follows:

• July 17 – July 28 – Mobilization of Upland Equipment and Dredge
• July 24 – July 31 – Upland Clearing & Excavation
• July 31 – August 14 – Hydraulic Dredging of Greer Island Spit
• August 5 – August 8 – Hydraulic Dredging of Canal 1A
• August 21 – August 23 – Beach Tilling
• August 23 – September 4 – Demobilization
