No-swim advisory issued for Palma South Beach in Bradenton.
A no-swim advisory has been issued for the Palma Sola South Beach in Bradenton on Friday (April 1st).
The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County received results from samples that were taken between March 28 and March 30 that had increased levels of Enterococci bacteria. Other beaches located in Manatee County are not under advisory.
According to the Florida Health website, the bacteria is a sign of fecal pollution from stormwater runoff, wildlife and pet waste, and human sewage.
Since May of 2021, this is the fifth test result from the site that's come back with a poor rating and its first issued advisory, according to Florida Health.
Since 2002, Manatee County has been testing beach water quality through the Healthy Beaches Monitoring Program.
