Manatee County seeks community help for red tide cleanup

Manatee County needs helping hands!

Manatee County's Parks and Natural Resources Department is seeking volunteers to help clean up Palma Sola Causeway and Perico Preserve, removing marine debris and fish from the current red tide event.

While we have obtained contractors and help from local vendors, these areas are sensitive spots that either cannot be raked easily or need immediate help. We are asking for volunteers to assist in two short cleanups.

We will provide pitchforks, latex gloves, buckets and basic masks. If you have your own tools or a mask you'd prefer to use we encourage you to bring them to help in order to add to the effort. Please wear close-toed shoes and clothing that can get wet and/or messy.

As always, volunteers' safety is most important, so if you have respiratory sensitivity please consider helping at another event.
