Public workshop on community land use, growth management Feb. 29th
UF Center for Building Better Communities will present information on urban planning and growth management
MANATEE COUNTY – Land use and growth management experts from the University of Florida’s Center for Building Better Communities will discuss growth management and the common issues raised by many fast-growing Florida communities like Manatee County in a unique and immersive free public workshop later this month.
Manatee County will host UF on Monday, Feb. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, One Haben Blvd., in Palmetto.
“We’ll have statewide experts here to present information and training about Florida’s land use law, growth management and how local officials implement their comprehensive plans,” said Manatee Planning Official John Osborne. “Anyone who’s interested in the County’s land use review process, anyone who’s interested in growth in our community or state should try to attend.”
Two University of Florida fellows will present the workshop. Osborne said the presenters have years of experience practicing land use in public, private and academic sectors.
