Come celebrate the beauty and diversity of estuaries on Saturday, September 26th from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Moccasin Lake Nature Park in Pinellas County.
Why celebrate estuaries you ask?
Because 80% of fish, crabs and other underwater critters spend some part of their lives in an estuary. Estuaries are the building blocks for healthy communities - what's not to celebrate about that?!
The Tampa Bay Estuary's focus for this event will be removing invasive plants within the park, cleaning along the trails, buildings and shelters, weeding the butterfly garden and working in the organic garden.
Moccasin Lake Nature Park is located in Clearwater, just north of Drew Street off US. Highway 19 North.
Moccasin Lake is a 51-acre nature preserve with trails and boardwalks under a canopy of mature oaks supporting an array of wildlife including gopher tortoises, raccoons, and many birds. Several injured birds of prey call Moccasin Lake home.
They will celebrate their good work with a delicious lunch and volunteers can enjoy the park for the rest of the afternoon!
They need 100 volunteers for this workday.
