Salt Marsh Planting Volunteer Days June 17-18

Come help harvest and plant salt marsh with Alicia Klingensmith to help her achieve her Girl Scout Gold Award Project! The planting of salt marsh or smooth cord grass protects and stabilizes low lying coastal lands and provides protection and food sources for estuarine and coastal fishery food chains of many species of fish and marine mammals.

• Harvesting will be Friday, June 17, 9am-Noon at 14495 Harlee Rd, Palmetto, FL 34221.
• Planting on Saturday, June 18,10am-12:30pm at Clam Bayou (directions upon RSVP).

This project is very messy! Please wear old clothes that can get dirty and wet. A hat, towel, sunscreen, closed toe shoes and water are also recommended. Drinks and lunch will be provided. PLEASE RSVP by emailling Alicia or calling her at 727-579-9986 whether you plan to attend one or both days.
