News Image

November 7 & 8, 9 a.m. to noon

Tampa Bay Watch is recruiting volunteers to help build an oyster shell bar at MacDill Airforce Base. The project involves shoveling fossilized shell into mesh bags, transporting and installing oyster shell bags on the shoreline to create a series of oyster bars. The goal of the project is to restore lost habitat systems to the bay, prevent further erosion of the shoreline and improve water quality through natural biological filtration. The minimum age to participate is 18 years old. We will need your driver's license number in order to get you on the MacDill AFB security clearance list. Clearance list needs to submitted 48 hours prior to the project date.
