Public Invited to Myakka Ranchlands Celebration on Dec. 3rd

The Myakka Ranchlands is a Florida Forever priority project created through joint land acquisition by the Southwest Florida Water Management District and Sarasota County's Environmentally Sensitive Lands Protection Program. The ranchlands that were acquired and/or protected by conservation easements during this past year now complete links that connect over 100,000 acres of contiguous public land in DeSoto, Sarasota, Charlotte and Manatee counties. These protected ranchlands extend from the Peace River west to the Myakka River.

To recognize the partnership that achieved this significant conservation project, the public is invited to the Walton Ranch to explore ranch trails and take a hayride beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 3rd. Sarasota County's Environmentally Sensitive Lands Oversight Committee will hold their December meeting on site starting at 1:30 p.m. Please RSVP by calling Robin at the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast if you plan to join us.
